Approaching its 10th year of operation and despite the difficulties it faced in 2021, Crowdpolicy successfully implemented more than 50 projects for Public and Private sector bodies in the field of Govtech, Fintech and Open Innovation in one year.

In 2021, Crowdpolicy proceeded to the implementation of important projects, as well as innovation and technology actions on digital transformation, some of which are presented below:

As an “innovation integrator”, we integrate innovation in practice, in a meaningful and fruitful way for everyone. Our company, Crowdpolicy, is contributing to this effort through the actions of its business units:

  • Govtech — Crowdapps for online services and actions in public administration and cities.
  • Open innovation for innovation and entrepreneurship, having supported a dynamic innovation ecosystem of at least 600 teams — startups and more than 5,500 developers in the past 10 years.
  • Fintech — Open finance and the FintelioX platform for enterprise applications and support services using state-of-the-art technologies around SDK, APIs, Open Data.
  • Enterprise software via mobile services, the chatbot platform botakis.com of Crowdpolicy and the service support centers & customer care services.

Govtech

CrowdApps

CrowdApps is an integrated suite of cloud applications for cities, municipalities, regions and local communities. They enable participation, communication, transparency, accountability, e-Governance, local development and volunteering and they are contemporary governance best practices. All the applications work in a cloud environment.

City On

An equally important digital application for the promotion of the participation and digital transformation of the Municipalities, is the award-winning application for mobile devices, City On.

In 2021, more than 15 Municipalities installed the “City On” Mobile Application, with more than 3,000 unique users. Find out more at https://cityon.gr/

WiFi4EU

Crowdpolicy has already implemented 15 Social Wi-Fi networks and over 38 WIFI4EU networks in Greece with more than 1,500 access points. More than 50 Municipalities throughout the country have selected Crowdpolicy as a technology provider for the implementation of the WiFi4EU initiative, a European program that provides free access to Wi-Fi connectivity for all citizens and visitors in public spaces across Europe.

In 2021, an average of over 100,000 unique users per month throughout Greece connected to the networks of Crowdpolicy, while through the WiFi4EU and Social WiFi networks, participation is strengthened and the local economy and development are promoted.

The City of Athens has successfully installed WiFi4EU in 30 geographical points of wireless access, having so far recorded over 55,000 unique users, 157,000 unique connections and 541.8 GB traffic per month.

The Municipality of Megisti (Kastellorizo) has successfully installed WiFi4EU in geographical points of wireless access, having so far recorded over 500 unique users, 13,171 unique connections and 233.9 GB traffic per month.

Enterprise software

Chatbots

With the integrated digital assistant (digital agents — chatbots) and customer care platform, we provided solutions for the citizens and users of electronic services that need instant information. All the services are available through messenger, web widget and viber.

In 2021, we implemented more than 10 new chatbots for Municipalities and Public and Private Sector Bodies. Some of them are the following:

Cooperation of Crowdpolicy with Rakuten Viber

Crowdpolicy, focused on upgrading its digital services, entered into a strategic partnership with the international group Rakuten Viber, in the field of chatbots, the automatic virtual assistants.

PPC, as well as the Municipality of Papagou — Cholargos proceeded to the implementation of a chatbot in collaboration with Rakuten Viber and Crowdpolicy, providing access to the automatic virtual assistant through the popular Viber application. This opportunity will further upgrade the communication with the citizens and open even more communication channels, thus improving the quality of customer service.

Fintech

FintelioX

FintelioX is the first integrated cloud suite of enterprise solutions and services for fintech and open finance, which allows Banks worldwide to leverage the European Directive PSD2 & open banking to develop new business models and a large number of Private and Public Organizations to effectively integrate financial transactions into their processes and data management in order to create value.

Open Innovation

Since 2015, Crowdpolicy has implemented 33 innovation marathons (crowdhackathons), 9 business acceleration programs (Innovation Labs), while it has created a significant innovation network with over 5,500 developers and 600 successful PoCs (Proof of Concept).

In 2021, as every year, Crowdpolicy successfully organised open innovation actions such as innovation marathons (crowdhackathons), innovation bootcamps, as well as business acceleration programs (Innovation Labs), creating a large startup community.

Future Greek Rail Hackathon

On October 23–24, 2021, Future Greek Rail Hackathon was held, the first hybrid innovation marathon for the development of solutions and applications for the digital transformation of OSE, which was remotely and physically attended by more than 170 participants, contestants, teams and supporters.

Bootcamps

Defence Innovation Challenge

Defence Innovation Challenge is the 1st Innovation and Technology Competition of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence to highlight solutions, ideas and applications in the field of defence, with the theme: “Situational Awareness Innovation”. A total of 220 proposals have been submitted, and the action is currently in the final evaluation phase which will select the 10 best proposals to proceed to the final phase of the DefenceTech Bootcamp.

Innovation Labs

Visa Innovation Program

The 3rd cohort of the Visa Innovation Program was completed on December 1, 2021, with the Demo Day, the online event that hosted selected attendees — top businessmen, investors, fintechs and SMEs, as well as the 18 startups that participated in the 3rd cohort of the Visa Innovation Program, that spoke about their progress during the program. In 2021, a large number of fintech companies from Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey participated in the program, which shows how much it has developed.

SUP Free Innovation Lab

The largest Greek action of applied technological, entrepreneurial and social innovation to protect the environment and contribute to a Greece Free of Single-Use Plastics! SUP Free Innovation Lab, the 5-month acceleration program for the winning teams and applications of Sup Free Hackathon aims at promoting new emerging technologies in the fields of sustainability and environmental protection.

The SUP Free Innovation Lab was implemented by Crowdpolicy with the support of Lidl Hellas, the A. C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, in the context of the national campaign “Greece, Free of Single-Use Plastics”, and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy.

City labs

In 2021, more than 10 City Labs were held in Municipalities cooperating with Crowdpolicy. Citylabs are Digital Governance Workshops, which are held with the aim of highlighting the strategy of digital transformation and the new electronic applications of digital innovation and participation of Municipalities.

Innovation Talks | Podcast Series

Finally, in 2021 we launched the open innovation action “Innovation Talks Podcast”.

It is a new Greek Podcast, i.e. a series of recorded episodes, which are available to the public through Innovationtalks.gr, as well as Spotify.

“INFINITECH”, which is funded by the EU through the Horizon 2020 program, as an EU flagship project on Fintech and is a joint effort of 48 technology companies, fintech and research institutes from all over Europe, to utilise disrupting BigData / IoT / AI technologies and to implement innovative pilot applications in fintech and insurtech. BLUE crowdfunding

“BLUE crowdfunding”, a European Territorial Cooperation Program Interreg MED 2014–2020, entitled “Development of skills of the actors of blue economy for the effective use of participatory funding”.

INNOMSME

“INNOMSME”, which is co-funded by national and European resources (EPAnEk 2014–2020 and European Regional Development Fund) and aims to promote innovation in SMEs, in Greece and Germany, through the collection, analysis and utilisation of business data. More information: https://innomsme.gr/

In addition to the above, Crowdpolicy continues the implementation of the research project “Support to the Operation of the Regional Observatory for Social Integration of the South Aegean”, which is co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) through the Operational Program of South Aegean 2014–2020. In this context, in 2021, it carried out the largest socio / economic field research to date on the islands of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese and successfully continues the research process. Innovation Research Projects

Greek Fintech Cluster

Crowdpolicy successfully led the initiative for the creation of the first Fintech Cluster in Greece, with the Greek Fintech Cluster already consisting of 12 members (SMEs and research organizations). GFC partners and stakeholders are already developing innovative services and digital products for financial transactions. The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Operational Programme of Attica 2014–2020. More information: https://fintech.net.gr/

Govhack

Crowdpolicy participates as a coordinating partner — project leader in Govhack, the Innovation Center for Digital Transformation in Public Administration and Local Government, whose operation was launched following the positive evaluation of a proposal submitted to the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Development & Investment. Its purpose is to support its member companies and partners with digital transformation in public administration (govtech), with the main goal of providing the appropriate resources that will enable them to meet the challenges and opportunities of the industry, at national and international level. The project has been included in the Action “Capacity Centers” of EPAnEk 2014–2020 and is co-funded by the ERDF.

Best City Awards

Crowdpolicy was named Smart City Supplier of the Year at the Best City Awards 2020 and won a total of 11 awards.

Mobile Excellence Awards

The 2 strategic partners of Crowdpolicy, the Municipality of Moschato — Tavros and PPC, were awarded for the Mobile services they provide for the citizens at the Mobile Excellence Awards 2022:

  • Gold Award in the category “Mobile Government” for the mobile application City On of the Municipality of Moschato — Tavros

Innovation in Politics Awards

The innovative application “City On” of the Municipality of Moschato — Tavros managed to stand out through a total of 413 projects submitted by 25 European countries, in the category “Digitalization” at the INNOVATION IN POLITICS AWARDS 2021 that take place in Bratislava.

With the arrival of the new year, a new journey of digital transformation begins for Crowdpolicy, full of new innovation actions and digital services for the digital transformation of the public and private sector!
